Position: Die Maintenance Associate
Objective
The Die Maintenance Associate is responsible for ensuring that all production dies are properly maintained and repaired to minimize downtime in the press department. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality, supporting production efficiency, and ensuring a safe, well-organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform repairs and maintenance on both Progressive and Transfer dies to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance to minimize unexpected breakdowns and maintain consistent production quality.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve die-related issues during production runs to reduce downtime and maintain output efficiency.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct test runs and inspections to confirm that repaired dies produce parts that meet all specifications and quality standards.
  • Material Handling: Safely transport dies to and from the tool room using forklifts, power jacks, and overhead cranes.
  • Safety and Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Team Support: Assist with daily tool room operations and support team members with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in tool making, die repair, or die maintenance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in maintaining and repairing Progressive and Transfer Dies.
  • Skilled in operating mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other standard tool room equipment.
  • Proficient in TIG welding and precision hand finishing using grinders and polishers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with the metric measurement system.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods (8–12 hours per shift).
  • Frequent bending, lifting, twisting, stooping, and kneeling required.
  • Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed based on orders (average 45–55 hours per week).
Working Conditions
  • Possible exposure to processing oils and machine lubricants.
  • Work environment includes moderate to high noise levels typical of a manufacturing setting.
